Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich on Tuesday asked his supporters to make rival Barack Obama their second choice if he doesn’t meet a cutoff point for voting in Iowa’s caucuses.
Kucinich:
I hope Iowans will caucus for me as their first choice … because of my singular positions on the war, on health care and trade,” Kucinich said. “But in those caucus locations where my support doesn’t reach the necessary threshold, I strongly encourage all of my supporters to make Barack Obama their second choice.
Obama:
I have a lot of respect for Congressman Kucinich, and I’m honored that he has done this because we both believe deeply in the need for fundamental change.
Change. Change. Change what? President Obama will pull combat troops from Iraq and won’t build “permanent” bases, but he will keep, er, non-combat troops in Iraq to fight al Qaeda and protect our embassy. He will seek a diplomatic solution to the non-problem of Iran’s nuclear program. Diplomatic solutions include economic sanctions. He will expand the military. He will keep babbling gobbledegook about how America is the last best exceptional hope of the whole world (but he’ll be less arrogant about it than Bush). He will maintain the myth of national security.
Whatever, Dennis, you sad loser patsy.
